Do not pity the dead, Harry, pity the living. Above all, pity those who live without love. By returning you may ensure that fewer souls are maimed and fewer families are torn apart. If that seems to you a worthy goal, then we say goodbye for the present.
Today in Middle-Earth: Birth of Samwise Gamgee (April 6th, 2983 T.A.)
“I don’t know how to say it, but after last night I feel different. I seem to see ahead, in a kind of way. I know we are going to take a very long road, into darkness; but I know I can’t turn back. It isn’t right to see Elves now, nor dragons, nor mountains, that I want - I don’t rightly know what I want: but I have something to do before the end, and it lies ahead, not in the Shire. I must see it through, sir, if you understand me.”
Happy birthday Robert Delaunay (1885-1941) Between the spring of 1909 and early 1910, Saint-Séverin, a small thirteenth-century Gothic church near Robert Delaunay’s studio in Paris, inspired a series of seven paintings by the artist. In these works, he explored the interaction of light, color, and space in the cavernous church interior and its architecture of twisting columns and pointed arches to produce a kaleidoscopic sensation of shifting perspectives.
